Life Legacy


John J. Sorrento, a long time Greenwich resident died on April 26, 2012 at Nathaniel Witherell. Mr. Sorrento was born in New York City, the son of the late Philip and Antonia Bottone Sorrento. He was educated in the Greenwich Schools. He was employed by the Town of Greenwich for over 32 years, plus 8 years, part time. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. A member of the Redman’s Lodge #46 for over 50 years. A former volunteer of the Amergerone Fire Co. for over 36 years. He was a volunteer at Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home and was on the Auxiliary Board. He also volunteered at the Greenwich Senior Center and was a Special Policeman. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and James and by two sisters Marie Colosia and Frances Toto.
He was married to his first wife, Olga Dennis Sorrento, for 62 years. After her death he was married to Dorothy Marino Sorrento who passed away in 2010.
He is survived by a daughter Gwen Horvath and a granddaughter Holly Horvath, two stepsons, Carmine and Robert Marino, a niece and nephew from Stamford Frank and Gloria Petillo, a niece and nephew from Port Chester, MaryAnn and Domenic Tammaro, and his nephew Phil and his wife Joan, and a niece Mary (Dolly) Knowles, all from Pawtucket, CT
